Association of Debate Clubs of Olomouc Region
(ADC OLR), IN 72067756, was founded on the 27th of March 2010 as a regional unit of the Association of Debate Clubs (ADC), IN 69058041, under the article 2.3 of the ADC Charter, with its activity limited to the Olomouc region. ADC OLR is a non-profit organization. ADC OLR works with the children and youth. It is a voluntary, independent, apolitical non-governmental organization, members of which gather and cooperate on the basis of shared interest in fulfilling the goals of ADC OLR.




ADC OLR exists to facilitate activities with the goals of:

  • facilitating proactive self-education in fields of development of key skills and capabilities
  • aiding personal development of children and youth, especially in moral, social and intellectual spheres
  • educating with the purpose of expanding the knowledge base of individuals and the society
  • development of social intelligence, tolerance and positive human relations
  • offering alternative options to common free time activities as means of fighting socially pathogenic phenomena that affect children and youth
  • supporting the development of intercultural activities

    ADC OLR manages to accomplish these objectives mostly by participating in contests in academical debating held at grammar schools and high schools and also by its own organization of such events, preparation of methodological materials and education in the arts of efficacious argumentation, cultivated expression, critical thinking and intellectual and moral development.

    The largest projects of the organization comprise the national debate tournament Olomouc Open Cup and the international debate tournament Heart of Europe. Another notable activities include organization of the regional round of Debatics contest in the Olomouc Region as well as lectures and other educational efforts being provided for students and general public.

    Memebership

    Necessary prerequisites for becoming a member of ADC OLR are as follows: acquiring membership in ADC prior to this application; providing written consent with the goals of the organization and submitting a form valid in the present year; a consent of Legal Guardian is required for applicants younger than 18 years of age.
